MT have been stirring up a groundswell of hype ever since their London genesis lastyear. Fronted by the very Australian Michael Tomlinson, their short existence has already seen them championed by the likes of NME, Clash and This Is Fake DIY. Their bandwagon overfloweth, and Brisbane’s Dew Process are the latest to jump on board; today revealing what all the fuss is about by way of debut single ‘Alpha Romeo’.
Produced by Dan Grech (Vaccines, Lana Del Ray) ‘Alpha Romeo’ is a pop anthem of seismic proportions. Since its worldwide premiere on ThisisfakeDIY, the Summer Anthem shoe-in has won them huge support on BBC Radio One from Phil & Alice, Zane Lowe and Jen Long, before claiming a spot on NME’s On Repeat.Initially camouflaging itself as a could-be piano ballad, the stomper swiftly takes liftoff into a bursting, horn-backed triumph – never giving up on itsbright-eyed cause.
Near-legendary appearances in London at the likes of KOKO and Ridley Road Market Bar (Wu's) have earned MT a growing reputation of energetic, inspiring and often euphoric live shows. It was this on-stage blithe that prompted NME to tip the band as one of their 10 ‘Ones to Watch’ at this year’s Great Escape Festival in Brighton.
Sure to be one of this year’s Summer Anthems, ‘Alpha Romeo’ will be released on November 29th 2013 via Dew Process/Universal Music Australia.
