Fresh from the United States, Melbourne’s KINGSWOOD have landed back on our soil with new single ‘Sucker Punch' in tow. It is the first taste of KINGSWOOD’s forthcoming album, recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville Tennessee, with Grammy Award winning producer Vance Powell (Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Kings Of Leon). The album is due to be unleashed in the first half of next year, but for now, get hitwith ‘Sucker Punch'.
The good news continues with KINGSWOOD inking a deal with Brisbane’s Dew Process. The new partnership sees KINGSWOOD joining the label’s rock-lauded wing, alongside the likes of The Hives, The Living End, Jebediah and Dropkick Murphys, not to mention Sarah Blasko, Mumford & Sons, London Grammar, Gossling and Bernard Fanning.
The signing caps off an intensive year for the Melbourne-based grit-rockers; with a back pocket full of singles ‘Yeah Go Die’, ‘Medusa’, ‘She’s My Baby’ and ‘Ohio’. The Deluxe EP Change of Heart debuted at #3 on the AiR 100% Album Chart and held Top 20 for 30 weeks.
This year also marked the band’s buzzed and bated cinematic debut, with short film 'Some Motherfucker's Gotta Pay' claiming a nom for Music Video of the Year at triple j’s annual J Awards. The four piece were also nominated for an AiR Award for Best Rock Album.
With an unrelenting attitude, KINGSWOOD are set to tackle the Big Day Out next year, but will first play Australia’s East Coast with Calling All Cars for the Life’s A Beach tour.
