They’re the Brooklyn three-piece behind one of SXSW’s most celebrated debuts and now, following news of their recent signing with Dew Process, Wet unveils new single ‘You’re The Best’ - taken from the forthcoming Wet EP, out April 25.
It’s the latest synth-savvy installment from Wet, who came to prominence late last year with breakthrough single ‘Dreams’ – a track readily added to full rotation on triple j and boasting in excess of 300,000 plays online. ‘You’re The Best’ proves a worthy successor; showcasing the indie pop smarts and minimalist R&B that saw the band publicly lauded by the likes of NME (“beguiling”), Billboard (“the toast of the tastemakers”) and BBC Radio 1 (“understated, considered and beautiful”).
‘You’re The Best’ is already causing a stir online (420,000+ plays), with its partnering video proving “as sweetly-delivered as the track itself” (This Is Fake DIY).
“You’re The Best highlights the trio’s mastery of making melodies sweet,
layered without becoming too rich.” – The Line Of Best Fit
“…some of quirkiest, most authentic alt-pop we've heard in quiet some time.” – Indie Shuffle
“Pop music doesn’t always have to be up-tempo, bass heavy radio-ready jams; it can also be compelling
and vulnerable. There is no better example of this than Brooklynites Wet.” – Earmilk
“…love-at-first-synth” – All Things Go
Comprised of Kelly Zutrau, Martin Sulkow and Joe Valle, Wet have been making music together in various outfits since meeting as students in New York in 2006. What began as a long-distance collaboration between Providence, New York, and Los Angeles led to string of shows and self-releases in the summer of 2012; now culminating in the band’s debut, self-titled Wet EP.
‘You’re The Best’ is taken from the forthcoming Wet EP - out Friday, April 25 via Dew Process. Available to preorder now on iTunes here
